Canadian government has always been keen to accommodate businessmen, managers and investors who will be hopefully engaged with uplifting Canadian economy further, and will work with exemplary zeal and commitment. There are four different classes as available under this program each with unique sets of requirements that need to be met with in order to qualify for immigration to Canada. The four categories are – investor visa program, self-employed program, entrepreneur program and start-up visa program.
Federal Entrepreneur Program
Canadian Immigration Entrepreneurship Program gladly welcomes those who are committed to professional growth through innovative and unconventional business programs. This program has been launched keeping in mind that Canada is a fast growing economy and needs more people who can contribute to a positive work culture and generate employment opportunities for fellow Canadians.
To be eligible for this program, the applicant must demonstrate a keenness to invest in a new business or acquire an already established business in Canada with at least 33.3% equity. The business should also generate employment opportunities for other Canadian people. If you are approved under this program, you may immigrate to Canada along with your family members and then apply for permanent visas.
Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant must have the admissible net worth according to the latest norms by the Canadian government.
- The applicant must have at least a minimum of 1 years of work experience of running a business within five years of submitting the visa application. Some other details are also reviewed under this criterion like whether the business was successful, well-managed and profitable.
- The applicant should exhibit relevant skill set needed for a business person or an entrepreneur like effective skills of management, organization, problem solving and financial planning. Having a valid business experience can facilitate the qualifying process.
- The business of the applicant can be partly owned by a spouse, common-law partner or a conjugal partner. The applicant must control at least 25% of the capital equity.
Self Employed Persons Program
Canadian Self-Employed Program targets people who wish to be self-employed in Canada and contribute emphatically to its positive growth on a global platform. Canada recognizes a self-employed person as an asset for the country as such people tend to give continuous support to the cultural, intellectual and social environment of the country. Their contribution in enhancing the global reputation of Canada cannot be undermined.
Self employed Persons Program facilitates easy immigration to Canada as permanent residents to people who are self-employed if they fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria. The applicants should have appropriate experience as self-employed, and should demonstrate keenness to contribute competitively to the cultural activities or athletics of the country.
The required experience for qualifying under this program is to have at least two years of experience of either the cultural activity or the sports that you represent. This should validate that you are self-employed and financially independent so you would not demand any social or financial help from the Canadian government. You should also be able to demonstrate that you have made significant contributions towards your specific field/activity.
The selection process will take a number of factors into considerations before declaring you eligible for the visa like experience, education, age, language abilities and adaptability. Apart from this you need clearance on your medical exam and police certification. Applicants must score a minimum of 35 points to be eligible to immigrate to Canada as self-employed individual.
Selection Criteria-
- Educational credentials can get a maximum score of 25 points.
- Right amount of experience can get a maximum score of 35 points.
- Age norms can get a maximum score of 10 points.
- Language proficiency in all desired skills can get maximum of 24 points.
- Adaptability norms can get a maximum of 6 points.
Start Up Visa Program
The Entrepreneur Start up Visa category under Business Immigration to Canada Program allows you immigration to Canada as a permanent resident. This program is specially designed in a way that it facilitates aspiring entrepreneurial applicants to find the right platform for guidance, support and assistance for establishing their business in Canada. The applicants are required to fulfill the minimum eligibility criteria in order to benefit from this provision.
Eligibility Criteria
- It is required for the applicant to procure a letter of support from a designated organization in Canada that guarantees continuous interest and investment in the applicant’s business. This will require the applicant to first co-ordinate with a business group who shows interest in the proposed business idea and is ready to take it further in a formal manner. Once that is done, the designated organization will also have to provide a Certificate of Commitment to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) with a summary of the commitment and its terms and conditions. An application without a letter of support will be rejected.
- The applicant must show a minimum investment – as mentioned in the latest guidelines issued by the Canadian immigration office – solicited from a designated organization capital fund or from a designated angel investor group.
- The applicant must meet the minimum level of language proficiency in either English or French as determined as per the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) in all four skills including reading, writing, speaking and listening.
- It is imperative that the applicant must have completed a minimum of one year of continuous study at a post-secondary institution with a good academic record.
- The applicants should show proper documents that can prove that he/she is financially sound and can support himself/herself, along with the immigrating family members (if any) in Canada.
- The applicant should be able to furnish a full authorized record that validates that he is medically fit and without any criminal record. A thorough investigation of an applicant’s background record is made to ensure the safety and security of Canadian nationals.
Peer Review Process – There are a number of organization authorized by the Canadian government that ascertain that no commitment claims made by the applicant and the designated organization are fraudulent. In order to mitigate chances of dishonesty and fraud transactions, these organizations are committed to check the legitimacy of the business deal made between the applicant and the investor.
